ARTISTS / Nigel Williams

Nigel Williams is a Welsh painter whose work explores the interplay between light, texture, and the emotive qualities of the landscape. With a background in Fine Art and over two decades of experience as both a practicing artist and educator, his work is rooted in observation yet embraces a painterly abstraction that invites personal interpretation.

Nigel’s approach is deeply influenced by his connection to the Welsh landscape—its ever-changing skies, rugged coastlines, and quiet, reflective spaces. His paintings capture a sense of atmosphere and movement, often blurring the line between representation and abstraction. Whether working in oil, acrylic, or mixed media, his focus remains on evoking mood and memory rather than mere depiction.

Alongside his personal practice, Nigel has exhibited in respected galleries across the UK, including the Royal Cambrian Academy. His work is held in both public and private collections, reflecting a career dedicated to both creative expression and the sharing of artistic knowledge. As a former police officer who later retrained in Fine Art, his path into painting was unconventional, yet this diverse background informs the depth and thoughtfulness of his work.
