Sarah Hopkins is an established Welsh artist/printmaker. Her work focuses on urban and man-made landscapes and the industrial heritage of South Wales.

Through her exploration of printmaking techniques and by creating intricate, hand-cut paper stencils, she screenprints layers of vibrant colour to build her images. She is constantly exploring new ways of representing her ideas, transforming negatively perceived industrial wastelands and places of social decay into striking images of everyday beauty.

She has worked with a number of clients to create bespoke artwork for interior spaces, including a commission for John Lewis Stores, Cardiff in 2009, creating an exclusive set of monotype screenprints for their Espresso Bar. She has a wealth of experience, managing and coordinating collaborative community programmes, such as the Festival of Muslim Cultures Print Project for Swansea Print Workshop in 2006.

Sarah gained an MA in Fine Art with Distinction at Swansea Institute in 2003. She has exhibited widely as a solo artist and has curated exhibitions including Contemporary Welsh Printmakers, which toured Pakistan in 2007. Her work is held at the National Library of Wales, Contemporary Arts Society of Wales and in many private collections.

In 2012 her work was purchased by the Palace of Westminster for the Parliamentary Art Collection, London. Also a lecturer, Sarah currently works at Coleg sir Gâr as Curriculum Head for Creative Industries, Sport and Public Services.
