I hand build animal and bird sculptures from stoneware clay which is then finished with oxides, underglazes and sometimes lustre and gold leaf. Each piece I make is individually made and unique.

My inspiration comes partly from animals and birds around me in the beautiful Cumbrian countryside where I live. I am particularly fascinated by hares.

 

I have also worked in Tanzania so some of my pieces have an African theme with sculptures of animals encountered on safaris and recent work has included some African figures.
