ARTISTS / David Henry

David was born in Pembrokeshire and studied at Newport Monmouthshire College of Art and Design.
After gaining further qualifications in Art education at Birmingham he went on to teach
at Secondary school level as well as working with adults classes, tutoring painting, drawing and Art history.

Retiring to South Shropshire, he now works from his studio in Clun, where the ruggedness of Wales meets the soft rolling countryside of the "Welsh Marches ".

It is here that much of his inspiration comes for his paintings.

He works mainly, but not solely in oils, landscape based.
His style is loose and expressive, while still retaining a degree of objectivity.
Recent work has been more experimental in nature, using wood shavings and mixed media to create unusual textural qualities / impasto effects.

He has exhibited across Wales, in the Midlands and at the Mall Gallery, London.
