John Edwards is an artist based in Swansea who primarily works in oils. He is interested in portraiture, figurative and landscapes. He is completely self taught and has both learned from and is inspired by the old masters, particularly Caravaggio, Rembrandt and Van Goch. Edwards is fascinated by the humanist themes in renaissance art and employs such themes in the subjects and narratives of his work, particularly themes and subjects around identity. Edwards also particularly interested in strong contrasts in light and shadow and colour relationships."
