'Lockdown Reflections’

 Exhibition Date:  2nd - 30th July

Jane Harrison has found the recent periods of Lockdown to be an opportunity to explore subjects that often go unobserved in the usual bustle of life.

The privilege of revisiting a local garden to paint through the seasons, noting the changes in light and tones, has been a way to connect more deeply with nature. In addition, the general slowing down of Lockdown has inspired Jane to create still life studies that reflect periods when time passed more slowly. Objects used by previous generations seem to possess a sense of stillness and permanence that have been lost in a world of high technology.

Jane has worked in acrylics to give a seasonal vibrancy to her garden pieces. She finds the sculptural qualities of this medium capture the durability of handcrafted objects from the past.
