Colin Davies is a full-time artist based in South Wales. He spent thirty two years in education, finally retiring in 2019, fulfilling a life long ambition to trade life as a headteacher for that of a professional painter.

After 'taking the plunge' into the professional art world, Colin worked for a short period as partner in a Fine Art Gallery near his home in Mumbles. Following on from this, he decided to move on to develop his artistic journey and 'learn the trade' on a wider front. He now concentrates on building his portfolio and further developing his knowledge and experience by painting daily.

Using mainly oil and acrylic paints, Colin's rich and expressive style is created with the generous application of paint using a swift, tumultuous sweep of a palette knife, often followed with more detailed brushwork application. Inspired by the beautiful coastline and mountains of Wales, much of his work depicts the power and vitality of the ocean. His atmospheric representation of the drama and rugged beauty of the Gower coastline, in particular, is regularly exhibited and increasingly collected across the UK and internationally.
