VISIONS

6TH - 27TH May

Gregg Robinson

I spent 30 years of my life as a Police officer In England (sorry)

Unfortunately, due to the nature of that career meant I came across a lot of life and death, it also meant that I dealt with a lot of confrontation, and I suppose due to the nature of the job I could only see the bad in everyone.

I have called my exhibition ‘Visions’ as when I retired, I felt I was able to have a new outlook on life and one thing that I really enjoy looking at and being part of is the natural world.

I love being near the sea and just watching the waves, to think that those waves have been doing the same thing for thousands of years. I like to look at very old buildings and try to imagine the people of that time!

About 10 years ago I became interested in painting although I didn’t know the first thing about painting or where to start so I went to a couple. of workshops devoted to the Bob Ross style of painting. That was it, I was hooked.

I next tried Watercolour painting at a local class but after a few months I found it was not my thing. I then went to a Pastels club which I absolutely loved; the only thing is I think I got more of the pastels on me than on the paper!

I moved to the Neath area in 2018 and in 2019 I found an art club and thought I would try my hand at Acrylics, that was it, Acrylics is now my medium of choice.

When I look at something to paint quite often, I find the need to add something or take something away so that I am happy with the scene, I think it’s called ‘Artistic Licence’ having said that I think most of my paintings are reasonably accurate.

Anyway I hope you like my first little exhibition
