After a lifetime of painting Phil Alder’s current work displays both a heightened awareness of colour and sensuality with touches of extreme delicacy and control; a fluid calligraphy of brushwork and textures.

​

Phil describes his paintings as visual metaphors. The paintings are described as ‘poetic’ and ‘contemplative’ by those who have them.

Phil Alder is at home using both oil paint and watercolour, and on occasion will also utilise acrylic paints for bolder statements.

He has work in several public collections in Wales and sells his work both here in Wales, and in America.
