Call Out: After the Romans

After the Romans – Young Artists Call for Postcard Art

​

Ages 5-16

​

This year for Neath Art Festival we have chosen to celebrate the art of the Romans with the exhibition ‘After the Romans’.

​

The Roman Empire has had a great influence on art for centuries and they were well known for their painting, sculptures, architecture and of course mosaic work.

Inspired by this history and the art and design of the period, we are inviting young artists (ages 5-16) to create postcard size artwork inspired by the Romans and this time period with successful applications being exhibited in Queen Street Gallery this October.

We have had great success in previous festivals with themes such as Under Milk Wood, The Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland and we want to continue that success this year.

This is a very broad theme but we believe with the history of Romans in the area and in Britain overall it will be a great subject matter to work with. Let your imagination run wild!

Please Note: Artwork must be postcard size, roughly A6, which measures 14.8 x 10.5 cm.

Artists above 16 are welcome to submit work for ‘After the Romans’ Call for Art
