Queen Street Gallery invites artists to capture the beauty and landscape of Porthcawl and its stunning beaches and Promenade.

The event complements the beauty of the beaches such as Sandy Bay, Porthcawl sea front, Rest Bay, the Harbour and the architecture of the Victorian Promenade.

 

This opportunity is open to all artists who would like to take part in this event, to capture the beauty and history of this wonderful Resort. Please see the accompanying rules and regulations for further details.

 

Timetable:

Saturday 29th August

Artists

• Arrival between 10 - 10.15am

• Registration at HARRIS PRINTERS 16 - 18 Mary Street, Porthcawl, CF36 3YA 10.30 – 11.00am 

• Parking available at John Street Car Park, just behind Harris Printers

• Time allocated for painting is five hours.

• Register back between 2.30 – 3.30pm

 

Sunday 30th August

Artists

 

• Arrival between 10 - 10.15am

• Registration at HARRIS PRINTERS 16 - 18 Mary Street, Porthcawl, CF36 3YA 10.30 – 11.00am (map and useful information will be given out)

• Parking available at John Street Car Park, just behind Harris Printers

• Time allocated for painting is five hours.

• Register back between 2.30 – 3.30pm

Exhibition of Artwork

• Selected artwork from the event will be hung in QSG exhibition space, 40 Queen Street, Neath.

• Dates of exhibition to be confirmed

• The gallery takes 40% commission on sales of artwork

• Please ensure work is ready for hanging ahead of the exhibition

• We are hoping to hang all the work from the event, but this depends on the number of entries. Selection is made at discretion of the gallery. 

• There will hopefully be a chance to exhibit work in Porthcawl in September if we are able to secure a suitable venue. Dates for the Queen Street Gallery exhibition to be confirmed. 

 

Fee

By paying the registration fee you are agreeing to abide by the Rules and Regulations. Please ensure that you have read them first.

 

• Painting on Saturday and Sunday ONLY

£15 for one day (five hours)

• Painting on BOTH days

£25 for two days (2 x five hours)

RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

1. Participation is open to all artists. Artists must be over the age of 18

 

2. Full payments of a registration fee (£15 one day, £25 for two days), is required in advance to secure a place.

​

3. Artists can work from any vantage point within the allocated area shown on the map (maps to be issued one week before the event).

​

4. Artists can create as many paintings as they are able during the allocated time, in different media. Up to two works from each day can be submitted for exhibition and sale.

 

5. Artists must submit at least one work from each day to the exhibition. 

​

6. Artists must be adept at working in all weathers and must bring appropriate clothing and coverage for any conditions.

 

7. Artists are personally responsible for their work and materials always. 

 

8. The gallery shall not be responsible for the artists safety or wellbeing during the event. Artists are responsible for arranging their own personal liability insurance for the event.

 

9. Artists are responsible for arranging their own travel, food and drink, accommodation and associated expenses.

10. All participants must accept being filmed and photographed by the gallery or media arranged by the gallery throughout the process. Images may be used for promotion on the gallery’s website, social media leaflet and other marketing materials associated with the gallery and its activities.
