After the Romans: Call for Art

This year for Neath Art Festival we have chosen to celebrate the art of the Romans with the exhibition ‘After the Romans’.

The Roman Empire has had a great influence on art for centuries and they were well known for their painting, sculptures, architecture and of course mosaic work.

Wales itself has a rich history tied with the Romans.

Recently archaeologists discovered a Roman villa in Margam Park, Port Talbot, which is not too far from Queen Street Gallery here in Neath. It is believed to be the largest Roman villa found in Wales.

As well as this villa, there were many Roman forts in Wales, including one in the grounds of Cardiff Castle and there are many Roman roads in the region, notably Sarn Helen which links North and South Wales.

Inspired by this history and the art and design of the period, we are inviting artists to create artwork inspired by the Romans and this time period with successful applications being exhibited in Queen Street Gallery this October.

We have had great success in previous festivals with themes such as Under Milk Wood, The Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland and we want to continue that success this year. Art can be of any medium or style, traditional painting and illustration, print, ceramic & sculpture, textiles, collage, digital. We are open to everyone!

This is a very broad theme but we believe with the history of Romans in the area and in Britain overall it will be a great subject matter to work with. Let your imagination run wild!

I saw this platform mentioned in a small UK discussion group where people were comparing different gaming sites and sharing experiences. I decided to test it myself out of curiosity, starting with a very small deposit to see how it handles gameplay and balance updates. What I noticed first was how quickly games load and how easy it is to switch between categories without losing track. During one of the sessions I opened red lion casino again and it felt consistent, which is something I personally value when just playing casually.

Good evening. I came across this site while reading comments in a UK thread discussing various online casino-style platforms and their design. I decided to check it briefly just to see how it is structured. Navigation felt simple, and pages loaded without delays, which made browsing smooth. While moving through sections I visited basswin-gb.uk in the middle of reviewing the interface. Everything looked logically arranged and easy to understand, without any unusual layout elements.

One legend shared flashdashcasino-uk.com with me after a really messy breakup, mostly just to get some peace. One night when I was tossing and turning for the life of me, I decided to take a look and was genuinely surprised by how quiet the atmosphere was—not loud or intrusive at all. I poured myself a drink, got comfortable, and finally felt my head settle after weeks of tension. I ended the night having a proper yarn with someone new and everything just flowed. It was exactly the kind of mental reset I needed.

Good morning. I was reading an online article about the history of slot machines and fruit symbols. The author linked to this site as a place where you can play classic retro slots. I clicked the link out of nostalgia for the old pub fruit machines I used to play. Fortunica Casino has a dedicated section for classic games that really hits the spot. I played a few rounds on a virtual fruit machine that held and nudged just like the old ones. I was down to my last ten pounds and thought I was done. Then I held two reels and spun the third, which landed on the jackpot symbol. It won me enough to buy a round of drinks…
