Call for Art inspired by 'Under Milk Wood' by Dylan Thomas
Under Milk Wood by Welsh poet Dylan Thomas began as a radio drama in 1954 before being adapted into a stage pay which first premiered in New York City. In 1972 a film adaptation was released starring Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor.
Set in Llareggub, a fictional Welsh seaside village, Under Milk Wood follows the lives, dreams and desires of the inhabitants of the village such as Captain Cat.
We are inviting artists of all ages to create art based on this wonderful story and to submit it for our very own Under Milk Wood exhibition. We had great success last year with our ‘Wizard of Oz exhibition’ as well as the year before with ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and we want to continue that this year. Art can be of any medium or style, traditional painting and illustration, print, ceramic & sculpture, textiles, collage, digital. We are open to everyone!
With many great and unique characters and settings to work with, we encourage participants to explore the story of Under Milk Wood and let your imagination run wild!
Have fun working with these wonderful stories and characters!
