Gustavius Payne - Beneath the Shadows

December 6th - 27th

Opening Saturday December 6th, 2pm

Studio 40, 40 Queen Street

This body of work follows a trajectory where I have become increasingly concerned with power structures, particularly from the view of the proletariat, the small cog in a ravenous machine.

How does insatiable consumption consolidate with a finite planet? Who are we? What are our priorities? Truths appear to be hidden from view. At least darkened enough to hide any clarity.

The work is an exploration. A way of trying to make sense of the often nonsensical. A voyage of discovery.

‘This project is funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.’

Where We Meet: Seven Emerging Women Artists from Neath

Students of Sew Unique Karen

The Cwtch Gallery, Studio 40

December 6th - 27th

The title ‘Where we meet’ presents seven emerging women artists from Neath, tracing the evolution of their creative practices over the past seven years.

This exhibition celebrates the distinct artistic trajectories of each participant, illustrating how they have engaged with and expanded upon the aesthetic languages of Art and Design. Through sustained collaboration within a dynamic studio environment, these artists have fostered mutual support, professional growth, and collective inspiration.

Throughout this period, each artist has undergone a process of transformation—cultivating confidence, individuality, and a refined personal vision. This exhibition stands as both a culmination and a celebration of their shared journey: a testament to their commitment to artistic development and to the diverse range of media, techniques, and expressions through which they articulate their creative identities.
