Artist statement -

I have used this seedpod within my thought processes due to the lovely memories it holds for me as a child. These memoires always come to mind when visiting care homes, my grandparents grew this plant and used the pods to decorate the window as a symbol of good luck once they had matured.

 

When pealing back the folds my Grandmother would always refer to them as a reminder that in the autumn of your life true beauty and strength through honesty will always shine. I will be writing my thoughts and the words of residence onto the seedpods and constructing a 3d form of the brain by manipulating the pods and highlighting its fragility through dementia and the passing of time.
