David Williams is a landscape artist based in Tonna, Neath, and teaches Physical Education and Art at Llangatwg Community School in Cadoxton, Neath.

His approach to painting embraces experimentation and discovery, allowing the painting process to guide the outcome rather than the final image. Inspiration is taken from his surroundings and experiences, with the initial sparks of inspiration moulded into tangible expressions of creativity. His paintings portray the Gower and Pembrokeshire coastlines, and the landscape of the Vale of Neath in South Wales.

Observation of his surroundings through sketching, photography or walking provide the inspiration that fuels the experimentation towards creativity. It is the shifting moods of weather, light and seasons, and the vivid colours that are the ingredients in striving to capture the essence of the scene, be it coast or landscape.
