H.A.G – Will Shalt be the Whole of the Law

 

This exhibition features five community-based artists from Hollybush Artist Group (H.A.G), whose diverse practices converge in a space of raw creativity and shared purpose. Rooted in the village of Whitchurch, Cardiff, these feral and fecund creators have transformed their community hall into a vibrant art space, channelling the tumultuous energies of heaven and hell, hunger and sustenance, void wolves and divine gates.

 

Sean Donovan invites us to approach art as a gift—an open-ended act of imagination and hard work that celebrates living longer, living sexily, and living fully. David Knight distorts realism with myth and fantasy, weaving familiar tales with invented worlds to challenge perception. Cat Lewis, a botanical colour specialist, emphasizes sustainability and environmental consciousness, facilitating others to create in harmony with nature. Vicky Zasikowski flows with the Zen-like inspiration of her brush, seeking simplicity and presence amidst life's ongoing river. Marta Wawrzycka merges science, contemporary issues, and philosophical inquiry through photography and installation, exploring visual metaphors rooted in research and everyday life.

 

Together, these artists forge a collective voice that questions, celebrates, and transcends boundaries—bridging community, environment, myth, and introspection. Their work is an invitation to look beyond the surface, to embrace the feral, the fecund, and the divine within us all.
