July Exhibition

GeminII Connexions Revisited!

Rosemary Cassidy Buswell & Judith Railton

July 4th - 25th

Opening Saturday July 4th, 2pm

Jud & Rosy, as they are known to each other, met at Manchester College of Art, now MMU in the early 70’s in the Fine Art and Textile Department and have remained friends ever since, over many countries and continents.

They have often exhibited together during the years, notably in ‘Chalk & Fromage’, when Rosy was living in France at the time, and ‘GeminII Connexions’ over 20 years ago.  They are both born under the sign of Gemini, hence the title of the show. Recognising that their work is very different, but both liking a lot of the same things, this body of work shows their individual response to various themes.  Some of the pieces are retro from their previous shows, and other collaborations. There is also new work made for this exhibition at Queen Street Gallery.   The Gallery and the artists hope that you will enjoy this fun and quirky show, and find something of interest amongst the exhibits that will make you smile!

Affordable Art Fair

We were thrilled to  take part in the Affordable Art Fair at Hampstead, London in May.

This renowned event has been a cornerstone of the contemporary art scene for 25 years and we are so grateful to have been given the opportunity to take part.

It was a wonderful experience for Queen Street Gallery and the twelve talented artists that had their work on display. It was a vital opportunity for these artists to gain national and international exposure, opening doors to new audiences, collectors, and opportunities that could transform their careers.

Work from the exhibition is now availble to view at the gallery here in Neath.

You can also view the work HERE

Bethan Ash, Felix Akulw, Suzanne Callen, Rosemary Cassidy Buswell, Colin Davies, Scott Keenan, Tracey Lewis, Stuart Mackay, Michael Monaghan, Sheila Phillipson, David Williams and Sandra Wintle

After the Romans: Call for Art

This year for Neath Art Festival we have chosen to celebrate the art of the Romans with the exhibition ‘After the Romans’.

The Roman Empire has had a great influence on art for centuries and they were well known for their painting, sculptures, architecture and of course mosaic work.

Wales itself has a rich history tied with the Romans.

Inspired by this history and the art and design of the period, we are inviting artists to create artwork inspired by the Romans and this time period with successful applications being exhibited in Queen Street Gallery this October.

This is a very broad theme but we believe with the history of Romans in the area and in Britain overall it will be a great subject matter to work with. Let your imagination run wild!
